Substance Abuse Professional Services
The Department of Transportation
defines a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) as:
“A person who is qualified to evaluate employees
who have violated DOT drug and alcohol regulations such
as testing positive for alcohol and controlled substance
use, or refusing to be tested. The SAP makes observations
and recommendations concerning their education, treatment,
follow-up testing, and post-care”.."
